Circumcision may protect men from infection with the AIDS virus and the deadly human papillomavirus that causes cervical cancer, scientists say.The results of three studies showed benefit of circumcision procedures.Most likely, the researchers say, it will lead to disputes about how to do or not neonatal circumcision in order to protect their health and their future sexual partners.The work was published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases.Dr.Bertran Auvert of the University of Versailles in France, together with colleagues from South Africa conducted a study, which was attended by more than 1,200 men, undergo the medical examination in a clinic in South Africa.Researchers found that less than 15% of men circumcised and 22% without it were infected by the human papillomavirus, which is the main cause of cervical cancer and genital warts.The results of these studies provide an opportunity to understand why women who have partners with circumcision, are at less risk of cervical cancer, the experts emphasized.
