Who is your favorite author?

My favorite author is Elizabeth Peters, who write, among others, the Amelia Peabody mysteries about Egyptian archaeologists.She is trained in Egyptology from one of the best school s in the country (University of Chicago) and perhaps this accounts for the authenticity of her books.In the fictional story are woven actual Egyptologists from the late 19th and early 20th century and historical facts and events.Her main characters, as I’ve written before, are Amelia Peabody and her family of Egyptologists who always find themselves immersed in a murder mystery.She write with a subtle humor and couches her books as if they were Amelia’s journals, so they are written in the first person, except for other Emerson «manuscripts» that were found, written by her son and letters written by his wife.

Peters has also written a series of novel starring Vivky Bliss, an art historian, who too gets caught up in murder mysteries.Peters has also written a number of other novels.

Cost Of Medicine Barrier To Effective Treatment For Seniors Says Harvard Study

As many as one in ten elderly people in the US, registered with Medicare, do not stick to their prescribed medication because it is too expensive, according to Dr.Larissa Nekhlyudov and colleagues from Harvard Medical School.В

Their work, funded by the National Institute on Aging and the National Cancer Institute, shows that cost-related medication non-adherence - skipping pills to make the medicine last longer, and not filling in a prescription because it is too expensive - is common among this group, whether or not they suffer from cancer.This suggests that elderly cancer survivors do not face a greater financial burden related to medical costs than those without cancer.The study is published online in Springer's Journal of Cancer Survivorship.

As the population ages, the cost of medicines is rising and there is evidence that this has resulted in financial burden for patients.Cancer costs in particular have grown substantially and patients with cancer are faced with significant out-of-pocket expenses during diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care.Many cancer survivors also take drugs for other chronic illnesses (or co-morbidities), including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and osteoporosis.

In order to better understand cancer patients' medication issues, the authors analyzed data from the 2005 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey and Medicare claims.They looked at cost-related medication non-adherence, spending less on basic needs to afford medicines and other cost-reduction strategies among both cancer survivors and non-cancer sufferers.

Nekhlyudov and team found no differences in the rate of cost-related non-adherence between cancer survivors (10 percent) and those without cancer (11 percent).Six percent of cancer survivors and nine percent of those without cancer also said they spent less on basic needs (such as food and heat) so that they could afford medicines.In addition, more than half of all enrollees used other cost-saving measures, including taking generic medications, requesting free samples and comparing pharmacy prices before buying drugs.

Dr.Nekhlyudov concludes: "As the number of cancer survivors continues to increase and get older, the findings of our study enhance our understanding of the potential barriers to effective treatment of their non-cancer co-morbidities."

Well, the Summer Fun Photo Challenge is over, so worry you not, you won’t be forced to look at crappy pictures nearly as often!Honestly, I loved every day of it, and felt zero pressure.I learned a lot; not only about the camera itself, but different aspects of photography, as well as photo editing software. Smile Nerdy, I know.

I want to start another challenge for myself, but it is kind of open ended I want to do yoga daily, for the month of August.Naturally, I’ll have days where I can’t squeeze in an hour or so of cla*s, and on those crazy days I’ll implement yogic breathing techniques, or maybe even read up on some yoga history.Nerdy, I know.

The run this morning went well.I didn’t hydrate very well, but it was only four miles so I was able to put my nose to the grindstone and knock it out.It was also the first time in a while I ran with the stroller, for longer than 400’s at a time.Definitely felt that in my arms.Fine by me though, I need all the help I can get!Kara slept the wh*le time, so I was able to rock out to some old No Doubt.Tragic Kingdom old, none of that Return to Saturn nonsense Winking smile Nerdy, I know.
